LP & 12" EP

Duotron-Vs. Tom Smith LP (Menlo Park). $9.00. $7.00. SALE
Guitar, drums and shrieks from these Bulb veterans. Produced by Tom Smith.

Mink Shoals/Squirrelly Drawling split LP (Berlap). $8.00. $6.50. SALE
Mink Shoals features acoustic slide guitar instrumentals that show a strong John Fahey influence, while never imitating. Should certainly appeal to any Fahey fan. Quite excellent. Squirrelly Drawling leans toward more standard lo-fi rock with some weirdness thrown in.

7"

Kjetil D. Bransdal/Fibo-Trespo split 7" (Myke Droner NOR). $6.00. $4.50. SALE
A single that features Bransdal solo and collaborating with Sindre Bjerga (as Fibo-Trespo). The solo side is low-frequency guitar drones, while the other side does more of a guitar, accordion and percussion noise thing. Edition of 310.

Capital Eye/California split 7" (Road Cone). $3.50. $2.50. SALE
Volume III of Road Cone's Instress split 7" series that spotlights solo artists. This one has side projects from Bugskull & Sone members.

Cloudboy-Pet 7" (Flying Nun NZ). $3.50. $2.50. SALE
Pop band led Demarnia Lloyd. If you dug her single with Alastair Galbraith on Roof Bolt, then you know what to do.

John Davis/Sandra Bell split 7" (Road Cone). $3.50. $2.50. SALE
First volume in the Instress series.

Edith Presler-"Drag" 7" (Little Mafia). $3.50. $2.50. SALE
Swirly lo-fi indie rock. Someone must like this stuff, but it's not really my thing. 300 made.

Ex-Hustlers-"Just Bleed" 7" (Jealous Butcher). $3.50. $2.50. SALE
Debut 7" from this Seattle via Eugene indie-pop combo. Sloppy, catchy stuff in a Pavement/Sonic Youth sorta vein. Edition of 400.

Heazlewood-Badge Or Medallion? 7" (Flying Nun NZ). $3.50. $2.50. SALE
His most recent single.

Heazlewood-Surf's Up in Malibu 7" (Flying Nun NZ). $3.50. $2.50. SALE
First solo single from the leader of King Loser.

I'm Being Good/Small Things split 7" (Destroy All Music). $3.25. $2.50. SALE
Split 7" from a couple British bands. IBG play intelligent, complex indie-rock (think Eric Gaffney Sebadoh), while ST go the bassy instrumental (think Tortoise) route.

Kant-Non Plus Ultra 7" (Myke Droner NOR). $6.00. $4.50. SALE
Instrumental drone guitar and loops from Norway. Edition of 210.

Lost In Translation 7" (Carburetor). $4.00. $3.00. SALE
Great 7" of fuzzy, drugged-out psych guitar noise.

Celia Mancini-Kiasu 7" (Flying Nun NZ). $3.50. $2.50. SALE
Solo 7" from the bassist of King Loser.

Ralph Haxton-A Thing or Two about Etiquette 7" (gyttja). $4.00. $3.00. SALE
Impressive guitar/ clarinet duos and comes in a purty die-cut sleeve.

Vol. 1 in the Apraxia Composers Series.

Refrigerator-Louder than Goodbye 7" (Squealer). $3.50. $2.50. SALE
4 exclusive songs from the Fridge.

SF-Supra 7" (Flying Nun NZ). $3.50. $2.50. SALE
Excellent solo single from Sean O'Reilly (King Loser, Chug, Olla).

Sunshine Super Scum-Two Reasons 7" (Siltzbreeze). $3.50. $2.50. SALE
Energetic japanese punk produced by one of the guys from Teengenerate.

V/A-Bottom of the World 7" (Fisheye UK/Fourth Dimension UK). $5.50. $4.50. SALE
Collection of four of New Zealand's best experimental artists, compiled by Nick Cain of Opprobrium magazine. Features Omit, RST, Sandoz Lab Technicians, and Surface of the Earth.

Want-On a Plane 7" (Myke Droner NOR). $6.00. $4.50. SALE
First release on the Myke Droner label. Low key indie-pop reminiscent of the Pastels.

Want/Bronson Comet Lighter split 7" (Myke Droner NOR). $6.00. $4.50. SALE
Bronson Comet Lighter play light, instrumental drone-pop, while Want go in for more of a shuffling fuzz-pop kinda feel.

Compact Discs

Beef-Thinking in a Drunk Tank, Drunk in a Think Tank CD (Shithouse Rat). $7.50. $6.00. SALE
Drunk, sloppy, loud rock that recalls the best of the Am Rep catalog. This ain't normally my style, but Beef pulls it off way better than most, with a sense of melody and a sense of humor throughout.

Big Swifty-Akroasis CD (Cherry Smash). $9.50. $7.50. SALE
Fine collection of composed minimal, sustained drones (a la Tony Conrad, La Monte Young) from this Los Angeles(?) group.

Blowhole-Billowing Sheen CD (Apraxia/Animist). $12.00. $10.00. SALE
First digital foray for the 'hole and it's a damn fine place to start.

Crude-Inner City Guitar Perspectives CD (Flying Nun NZ). $10.00. $8.00. SALE
A collection of recordings that originally appeared on cassette.

Fats Thompson CD (Trinder NZ). $10.00. $8.00. SALE
A classic, but sadly overlooked debut from Paul Dagarin (ex-Polyp) under a pseudonym. Ranks with the finest work of nearly any New Zealand singer/songwriter, i.e. Alastair Galbraith, Peter Jefferies, Chris Knox, etc. Guests include Galbraith, Robbie Yeats, Bruce Blucher and many others.

Pain Jerk/Dogliveroil split CD (Betley Welcomes Careful Drivers UK). $12.50. $10.50. SALE
Split/collaboration CD between a couple noise artistes.

Project W CD (Apraxia). $12.00. $10.00. SALE
Their digital debut. They mine the same territory as Blowhole at their jazziest.
